Our Classes

R.I.S.E.– Reaching Independence through Support and Education

R.I.S.E.- offers emergent learners an opportunity to experience an educational setting uniquely designed for building foundational, independent classroom-readiness skills.  By helping students hone their motivation, focus, and determination, the RISE program utilizes collaborative teaching models with milestone assessments to prepare students for academic, adaptive, and social success.

S.O.A.R.- Skills and Opportunities for Academic Responsibility

SOAR brings young learners to the next level of their academic development while continuing to foster social fluidity and independent functioning.  Goal-directed activities and integrated curriculums enrich the SOAR program with components designed to round out independent academic skills and foster cognitive growth.

S.T.R.I.V.E– Students Taking Responsibility through Independent and Vocational Education

STRIVE takes the content from our first two programs and ties them together to prepare students for entering their communities with confidence and independence.   STRIVE develops students’ autonomy by combining guided academics, social skill-building, and vocational foundation. STRIVE encourages and prepares students to be creative thinkers and capable problem-solvers.

Academic Program

Our Elementary School program follows the State of Florida Common Core Standards as well as alternate achievement standards called Access Points. Teachers use a variety of programs that are tailored to meet the needs of individual students. Our low ratios allow the teacher and classroom assistant to keep students engaged in productive and meaningful activities. Our elementary students are positioned to learn and develop their academic skills with the use of various teaching tools and modalities of learning. We believe that learning cannot be one size fits all, and that our learners can succeed when given the proper accommodations and modifications to do so. Our focus is on taking advantage of these elementary years to grow the basic skills needed for future academic success.

Functional Academics 

Our functional academic program addresses areas that will be used by the student for the rest of their life. These are skills that will have meaning for the child and will help them be as independent as possible. 

Examples:

• Reading (read signs; read a recipe, etc) 
• Math (money, grocery shopping, making change, budgeting,etc) 
• Health (grooming; oral hygiene; play healthy meals, etc) 
• Time Management Skills (calendar skills, telling time, reading the date) 
• Computer Skills (using interactive and assistive computer devices & software when needed) 
• Center Activities- fine motor skills 
• Participate in Volunteer work (following directions)
